Welsh Cancer Intelligence Surveillance Unit, Public Health Wales

 

Job title: Cancer Registration & Validation Officer

 Area of work: Welsh Cancer Intelligence and Surveillance Unit

Base: Capital Quarter 2, Cardiff

Tenure: Fixed Term/Secondment - 12 months

Salary: Band 4 -  £21,892

Working pattern: Full time - 37.5 hours per week

An excellent opportunity has arisen for a keen, enthusiastic, highly motivated individual to join the cancer registration team within the Welsh Cancer Intelligence Surveillance Unit (WCISU) at the Public Health Wales office in the Capital Quarter 2 in Cardiff. Applications are invited from candidates with an interest in working in health informatics.

The successful candidate will work as part of a team to compile the national cancer registry for the population of Wales. This will involve the interrogation of multiple data sources containing clinical and administrative data to derive a patient cancer registration in adherence to international clinical coding rules and national standards.

The successful candidate will be required to complete the Royal Society for Public Health (RSPH) Level 2 Foundation Award for Cancer Registration Officers. The training programme is made up of on the job blended learning components and assessments.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.
