Medical Writer and Project Manager (Antimicrobials) – HARP team, Public Health Wales

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic medical writer to help improve the management of infection in Wales through antimicrobial guideline development, implementation and evaluation.

The Healthcare Associated Infection, Antimicrobial Resistance & Prescribing Programme (HARP) is responsible for surveillance of healthcare associated infections, antimicrobial resistance and usage of antimicrobials.  The team also delivers expert advice in these areas and leads on Welsh Government initiatives in support of reducing the burden of infections and antimicrobial resistance across the NHS in Wales.

The post holder will support the All Wales Antimicrobial Guideline Group, having the lead responsibility to develop and maintain Welsh national antimicrobial guidelines in primary and secondary care, from initial scoping and literature review, through writing and consulting with the NHS in Wales, approval by the All Wales Medicines Strategy Group to implementation and evaluation of guideline impact.

In addition, the post holder may be required to undertake a variety of central functions within the HARP team in support of Health Protection and the national AMR delivery board. The post would suit a clinical scientist or health care practitioner with an interest in antimicrobial resistance, evidenced based medicine and project management.

Public Health Wales is an equal opportunities employer and encourages flexible working patterns including working from home and a number of PHW sites across Wales. The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.
