This is a fixed term post for 12 months, due to funding.

If you are an Public Health Wales employee this post will only be offered on a secondment basis and you will need to have gained your line managers approval for the secondment prior to going to interview.

Public Health Wales is investing in the following areas: cyber security, modern data centre and network infrastructure and mobilisation.  We are recruiting a Programme Manager with technical IT experience for a one year fixed term contract to manage the implementation of this investment.


The successful candidate will be a key member of the IT Operations Team and will lead on the planning and delivery of a portfolio of programmes and work packages.


This role will be professionally accountable to the Technical Services Manager and will be accountable to the Senior Responsible Owner for the delivery of the Programme objectives.


The postholder will have technical IT experience in an enterprise environment including virtual and physical server, wired / wireless networking and firewall administration.  They will need to be a registered PPM Professional - PRINCE2, APM and MSP or equivalent.

Public Health Wales’s IT team provides enterprise IT services and support to 1,800 staff and this number is continuing to grow. We are an agile team providing a holistic approach to service support and consistently enable IT staff to have the opportunity to develop skills across a wider range of technologies.

The successful candidate will join the team based in modern offices in the heart of the city of Cardiff at Capital Quarter 2, which is only a short walk from Cardiff Central Railway Station.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.
