This is a fixed term post until 31 March 2022, due to funding.

Department/Directorate:     NHS Wales Health Collaborative

                                                                Wales Cardiac Network

Base:                                                     Wales Cardiac Network Office, (either North Wales or Cardiff)

Accountable to:                                Wales Cardiac Network Manager

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a National Cardiac Informatics Manager to join the Wales Cardiac Network, which is part of the NHS Wales Health Collaborative, hosted by Public Health Wales.  As part of the NHS Wales Health Collaborative, the Network works with Health Boards and Trusts in planning services and managing programmes and projects across organisational boundaries and in achieving the goals of the Heart Conditions Delivery Plan for Wales.

The Networks provide clinical expertise and leadership to drive improvements in quality and outcomes and share best practice and innovation. In this way the Networks facilitate and support:

  • Improved quality outcomes
  • Advance the delivery of services
  • Reduce unwarranted and unacceptable variations in care

This role will have an all-Wales remit with overall responsibility for providing leadership and support to cardiac informatics and information functions within the Wales Cardiac Network and to collaborate with the Heart Conditions Implementation Group, NWIS, Health Boards/Trusts in Wales, Public Health Wales, SAIL, Welsh Government, NHS Wales Health Collaborative and other stakeholders to develop a prioritised programme for the development of cardiac informatics in Wales. This will include the National Audit, and management of various work-packages to support the implementation of that programme.

The NHS Wales Heath Collaborative includes multiple networks and programmes with informatics and data analysis related responsibilities, functions and resources. There is an expectation that informatics and data analysis staff within the Collaborative may be called upon to undertake work spanning network/programme boundaries and to participate in the development of an informatics/data analysis ‘community of practice’ to share and develop common approaches and ways of working.

Experience of working with clinicians and clinical teams, excellent verbal and written communication skills, facilitative and influencing skills and the flexibility to travel to meetings across the region, and nationally as required, are key requirements of the role.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.
