Welcome to Public Health Wales the national public health agency in Wales. We exist to protect and improve health and wellbeing and reduce health inequalities for people in Wales.
Assistant Designated Nurse Safeguarding
We have a fantastic 12 month secondment opportunity for a qualified nurse within our National Safeguarding Team (NST). We are ideally looking for a candidate who already has significant exposure or senior safeguarding people experience within a Health board or Trust.
Although experience in this field is desirable, the desire and drive to gain additional, alternative practice at a strategic level to develop and build further on your knowledge and skills is essential.
During your secondment or fixed term appointment, you will gain experience of supporting the Designated professionals in providing professional leadership across the work of the NHS Safeguarding Network (adults and children), experience of developing strategy and promoting innovation to support excellence in safeguarding, and working with our stakeholders such as Welsh Government and Regional Safeguarding Boards.
We see the role as a real developmental opportunity for someone who following the 12 months secondment will return to their Health Board or NHS Trust with a greater understanding of the strategic safeguarding agenda across the NHS, greater expertise in safeguarding, and enhanced leadership skills which will make them an asset within their organisation. The NST would ask for your support in this initiative and we actively encourage open dialogue to build long lasting relationships following the end of the secondment.
We actively encourage anyone interested in this opportunity to make contact before applying to find out more about this great opportunity and how it could enhance your current skill set.
If you are interested in applying for the secondment position you must obtain permission from your current line manager prior to applying for this post.
We fully appreciate the working environment is important to our people, so this is an exciting time to join Public Health Wales as the majority of our staff have recently moved premises and are co-located in South Wales at Matrix House, Swansea and No. 2 Capital Quarter in the centre of Cardiff. The base of this post is Capital Quarter, Cardiff.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post.
Closing date: 27th June 2017
You must have appropriate UK professional registration.
This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service.
